Cut out a large apple shape out of
paper write the letter A on it have the children
tear or cut out magazine pictures things that begin with
the letter A (i.e., ant, airplane, acorn, etc.) glue the pictures
onto the apple shape.

Cut out a big letter A shape for each
child and let them make ant prints all over
it with their fingerprints and and a stamp pad. Let them use small
tip markers to draw in some legs.

I precut ant bodies (black const. paper). I then either precut the
ants legs (black) or have the children do some or all the cutting (depends
on their skill level). Then glue the legs onto the ant. Even after
talking about which section of the ant the legs should go on, the legs end
up all over. The ants are so unique and that is what makes them so
special. After the legs are glued on I have them glue on Aa
onto the ants abdomen.
