have each Child paint a paper cup brown. Poke a small hole in

Push the straw through the hole in the cup. Now when you move the
straw up and down you have a groundhog puppet.

Need: Small paper plates, sponges, paint,
craft stick
Directions: Use
two small white paper plates. One you will cut one in half, using a
wavy line, the other is uncut. The children will sponge paint the
front of the uncut plate blue, for the sky. Sponge plate the back of
the half plate brown, for the ground. Now find a small picture of
a groundhog (no taller than the half plate) and glue to a craft
stick. Staple plate and half plate together (front to back) then insert
groundhog stick between the two (bottom center). When you push the
stick up, the groundhog pops up, when pulled down, he runs back into his
hole. It really is cute.....kind of like the cup idea.
