Tale of the Three Trees
Retold by Angela Elwell Hunt
Review by: Mary
is a wonderful American Christian folktale about three trees that stand
side by side on top of a mountain. As they stand together, they
dream about what they want to be when they grow tall and strong.
The first tree says, "I want to hold
treasure." The second tree says, "I want to be a strong
sailing ship." And the third tree says, "I want to grow so tall
that when people stop to look at me they raise their eyes to heaven and
think of God. I will be the tallest tree in the world!"
After many years, the trees were eventually cut
down. Each tree's dream comes true and each of them served a purpose that
was "better than being the tallest tree in the world". They
were made into Jesus' manager (treasure), his fishing boat (strong sailing
ship) and His cross. Each become an important part of Jesus' life
here on earth.
This is a very moving and inspirational story
that everyone can enjoy at Christmas, at Easter or anytime of the year.
It's a great book to pass on to family and friends.
