Have
you ever thought you lost something only to find out that you had it in your
possession all along? That's exactly what happens in this
engaging story about a kitten.
This little curious kitten has her mew, hiss and
yow but she is missing the sound that she likes best. Kitten assumes that
one of the other barnyard animals may have taken it. So she ventures out by
them to reclaim it. She pays a visit to Dog, who has his woof but not her
purr.
Dog gives her the idea to check with Cow. So Kitten goes to Cow, who hasher
moo but not the Kitten's Purr. So Kitten checks with Pig who has
Oink, the duck family who has their quack, Mouse his squeak and Owl who
hoots but no one has any purrs.
The wise owl comes up with a solution to Kitten's
problem: go back to your mother. When Kitten climbs back next to her mother,
she discovers that she has had it inside of her the whole time. All of the
animals observe this touching moment and think that the purr is the most
perfect purr they have ever heard.
Children will love the brightly colored
pictures of the animals and can identify the various barnyard sounds
as the book is read aloud. A
mother's comfort is enjoyed by both animals and children.
