Clifford
Makes a Friend
By Norman Bridwell
Review by: Yvonne

This Clifford book is recommended for
preschool to grade one. It has three to five words per page and is
brightly illustrated. The story is about a little boy who sees Clifford
and runs away. So playful Clifford runs after the boy. When the boy jumps,
Clifford jumps. When the boy spins, Clifford spins. This game of follow
the leader continues throughout the book until the boy finally laughs!
What does Clifford do when the boy laughs? He kisses the boy, of course,
because Clifford likes laughing boys. Now Clifford has made a friend, and
your child will to, when he masters reading this book all by himself with
no help from mom or dad!
This book is in the "Hello Reader"
series and is rated a " level-one" book. They have been designed
to make children become better readers. I especially like the last page of
the book which lists words that are found throughout the book. This is
great if you decide to take this book a step further and have your child
learn these words, how to spell them, and how to read them!
