This
beautiful story highlights the flight of a green humming bird in a garden
and a young artists observation. The rhyming text carries you through Little
Greens flight.
"I see you out there, little
green,
In the flowers and between."
Little Green goes zipping, jigging, jagging,
dipping, sipping, zigging, zagging, and looping through the beautiful spring
flowers. "Stopping, starting, dashing, darting". The little boy
was watching and painting as Little Green flew. Did you see what he saw? The
boy shows his painting at the end. What do you suppose he painted? Flowers,
the humming bird? No, he painted the flight of Little Green. Zig zag, curly
cue, strait, loopty lou, swirling, whirling lines of color.
Keith Baker's story is rhyming and easy to follow.
His illustrations are bright and full of movement. They are done using a cut
paper collage technique. The illustrations are exquisite. The humming bird
flies right off the page.
Your preschooler will delight is this fabulous
story. It will definitely peak any child's interest in nature and art.
I recommend this book for all preschoolers ages 1
1/2 through 5 years old. Children of all ages will enjoy this story.
