Waves In The Bathtub
By Eugenie Fernandes

Review by: Lori Plach

If you have ever given a child a bath, you know firsthand that you will be most likely standing in water and have your clothes dampened by all the "Waves in the Bathtub." As the old song goes, "Splish, Splash, I Was Taking a Bath." The main character in this book is named Kady and she is normal in making sure the bathroom is flooded.
She has her own song called "Waves In the Bathtub," which is repeated various times throughout this book. Children will be able to repeat the refrain each time Kady hops into the tub. Children will also be able to relate to the the rubber ducky and other bathtub toys illustrated. When at long last, Kady is finished with her bath. Its time for her mother to clean up both the bathtub and herself. She breaks into song singing the same song as Kady did while she was in the tub. The musical score is included and can be learned to add to the enjoyment of this book.
This book is very enchanting and encourages participation. The
illustrations are very colorful and whimsical. The facial expressions are
marvelous. If you are going to have a flooded bathroom, you might as well sing about the Waves In the Bathtub.
