"Woe
is me," the pumpkin said.
"They picked me from my
garden bed,
Hollowed all my innards out,
And with a joyful whoop and shout,
Carved two eyes, a nose, a grin,
And stuck a lighted candle in."
This
book by Joan Horton is filled with rhymes like this for all ages of
children and adults! There are lots of poems and riddles in this book that
have a catchy beat. Surely your child would love this book for his or her
own library. The illustrations, by Joann Adinolfi, are very creative, fun
to look at and full of Halloween images. I would recommend this particular
book for ages 5-9. They should have no problem reading this book to you!
The rhymes are easy to teach to younger children, and can then be
presented to other family members and friends! Yet another of my favorite
books!
