Ten Little Dinosaurs
By Pattie Schnetzler
Illustrated by Jim Harris

Review by: Ma Picard

"Ten Little Dinosaurs" appeals to all with its silly illustrations and sing-song lyrics. The dinosaur dare-devils are drawn in numerical order, starting with ten little dinosaurs and ending with 0. Each page features large corresponding numbers, assisting with number recognition. The zany drawings of dinosaurs in preposterous predicaments and the large, 3-D google eyes will engage even the youngest audience. Schnetzler's use of rhyming encourages participation from your listeners; this sneaky technique promotes memorization skills among pre-readers. The portrayal of dinosaurs in risky situations provides a back door lesson in cause and effect. A pictorial reference section is included at the back of the book, giving more in-depth details regarding the various dinosaurs depicted in the story.
This book is recommended for children ages 2-5 and the adults who love to read to them.
