The Little Old Lady Who Wasn't Afraid of Anything
by Linda Williams

Review by: Mary Westbury

This book is an easy book for the children to understand and learn. Just like the title says.....the story is about a "Little Old Lady Who Wasn't Afraid of Anything". The book has repetitious words in it that the children will insert at the appropriate time. One day the little old lady is followed home by "two big shoes that go CLOMP, CLOMP.....a pair of pants that go WIGGLE, WIGGLE......a shirt that goes SHAKE, SHAKE....two white gloves that go CLAP, CLAP......a hat that goes NOD, NOD and a pumpkin head that goes BOO! BOO! The little old lady tells the shoes, pants, shirt, white gloves, hat and the pumpkin head that she isn't afraid of anything. The pumpkin head speaks for them all by saying, "What will become of us?" The children can't wait to join in and help tell the story. The words are used several times throughout the book. It is really fun to watch the children's faces as the story unfolds and in the end, it's not scary at all.......he ends up to be a scarecrow in the little old lady's garden.
