Colors and Shapes

You can have certain colored shapes on the floor and you can give
each child a certain color or shape that match the ones on the floor
and they have to find where they have to sit for circle time that
will cover the colors in the book and add shapes to it also.
Stick Puppets

Then You can make small stick puppets for each of the animals in the
book have children hold up animal when you are coming to that animal
in the book. You can also make the puppet big enough so they can use it
as a mask and they can hold them in front of there face to pretend
there that animal.
Sounds

When you read the book again to the
children you can have certain children imitate the sounds for each
one of the animals. Or even if you don't want to single certain
children out you can have all of them act out how they think the
animal will act.
Brown Bear

Before you read the story, place stuffed or paper animals from the story
into a bag or a feely box. Have the children pick an animal from the story
out. As you read the story have the child/ren stand up when you get to
their animal. Have the children say the name of their animal and the sound
it makes.

Draw and cut out animals named in the book Brown Bear, Brown Bear in the
appropriate color. Mount on the wall/ bullentin board at children's
eye level. When reading the book, the teacher or a child
points to the corresponding figure. To extend, have children find
other items in classroom the same color as one of the animals.
