Set up a flower shop in the dramatic play area. Provide flower catalogs,
silk, plastic and real flowers, orange juice cans (to hold flowers),
telephone, pads of paper and pencils, aprons, cash register and play
money.

First get a large box, like a stove box (you can get one free by calling
your local appliance store, if you can get the side protectors they make
great window boxes to hang on the outside of your windows). Cut out a
door, and two windows. Next have the children paint it. Make a sign
"Flower Shop". Next we added plastic flowers, dry flowers and
silk flowers. We had some flower arrangements already made and enough for
the children to create their own. Now your ready to add a cash register
and some paper bags (the children decorated in the art area with your
flower shops name on it). Teach the children about what types of flowers
they are, you can tell them the name of the flower, talk about the color,
shape, size, if the flower needs a lot of sun, or just a little.
