The Name Game added 7-27-00 Original Author Unknown

Sit in a circle.  The teacher starts and says, "My name is _________."  she then hands the ball to the child next to her and prompts them to say their name.  This continues  around the circle. When the ball gets back to the teacher she says, "My name is _________ and I am passing the ball to ___________."  This continues around the circle with teacher prompting.  When the ball gets back to the teacher she
rolls the ball to the other teacher and says, "My name is _________ and I am rolling the ball to _________."  That teacher then rolls the ball to a child and this continues until everyone has had a turn and the children are getting restless.

Find It  added 7-27-00 Original Author Unknown

Call out the names of school items and invite the children to locate the items in the classroom.  Start with a stapler, staples, crayons, pencils, chalk, books, a dictionary, pens, writing paper, construction paper, scissors, pencil erasers, the chalkboard,
chalkboard erasers, rulers, a yardstick, a globe, glue or paste, paint, a paintbrush, watercolors, and so on.  Tape a label on each of the items as the children locate them.  Leave the labels on all week to give the children opportunities to see each word.

Happy to see you added 7-27-00 Original Author Unknown

Make name tags with each child's name  and tell them that you are glad that they have come to your class. We then play this game to set a happy mood. Game:  The children form a circle with the teacher standing in the middle. While bouncing a ball to one child at a time, the teacher says " I am happy to see (child's name). Continue till everyone's name is said. Then we pass the ball around the circle to each child, the entire class says the name of the child holding the ball.

Chant:
Beach ball, beach ball goes to you.
This is what you need to do...
Everybody give a cheer!
Hooray!!
Now your turn is at an end.
Say your name and,
Pass the beach ball to a friend.

Who's Under The Blanket added 5-13-03 Original Author Unknown

As the children are sitting for circle time, have one child put a small blanket over their head and the group pats their legs as they sing... Who's that hiding underneath that blanket, repeat, repeat, come out and tell us your name. The child pulls the blanket off and tells everyone their name.  Then that child puts the blanket on someone else and repeat.
