ABC Snowman added 11-9-98

Around January, I like to see how
many letters they already know. I cut 26 circles for each child and write
an upper and lower case letter on each one. I place these in a ziplock bag
with the child's name. I then give each child a white circle and materials
such as constructions paper, fabric, etc. to make a snowman's face. During
free play, I call each child individually to see how many letters they
know. These are then stapled to the snowman's head. Many of the children
had snowmen from ceiling to floor the very first day! The children have
not viewed this as a competition, but love to ask for their baggies to
show me the new letters they have learned. They want more
"bellies" on their snowmen!
