Five Little Campers added 7-19-00 Original Author Unknown

Five little campers sitting in the sun,
The first one said, "I'd like to have some fun."
The second one said, "Let's all go for a cool swim."
The third one said, "I'll ask a grown-up to watch while we're in."
The fourth one said, "Let's get our safety vests."
The fifth one said, "We're the best."
"O-O-O-O-K went the parents",
"Yeah went the kids",
and the five little campers began to swim.

I'm going camping  added 7-19-00 Original Author Unknown

Sung to: "Twinkle, Twinkle"

I'm going camping, yessireee!
I'm going camping; won't you come with me?
First we'll pitch our tent on the ground.
Then make a fire as we all gather round.
I'm going camping, yessiree!
I'm going camping, won't you come with me?

Next we'll cook on the open fire,
Then tell stories till we all get tired.
When the stars are twinkling bright
We'll sleep in our tents 'til the morning light
I'm going camping, yessiree!
I'm going camping, won't you come with me?

When we see the morning sun
We'll wake right up 'cause the day's begun!
There's so much that we can do
Fishing swimming, hiking too.
I'm going camping, yessiree!
I'm going camping, won't you come with me?

Over The River added 7-28-00 Original Author Unknown

 Sung to: "Over the River"

Over the river, along the trail,
 The hikers march along.

They're filled with all the wonders
 A nature hike can bring.

Along The Trail  added 7-28-00 Original Author Unknown

When I go fishing down at the brook, (Hold fishing pole over shoulder)
I put a wiggly worm on my hook. (Put wiggly worm on hook)

And hope with all my might,
A little fish will swim on by. (Left hand-fingers together)
And take a great big bite. (Move thumb away from fingers -- then snap them back together)

5. ...and have a campfire?

Going Camping added 6-2-02 Original Author Unknown

Sung to: "I'm a Little Teapot"

I am going camping.
(point thumbs proudly to chest)
Time to pack
(point to wristwatch)
My tent, my bedroll,
(Make tent with hands; then fold hands to cheek.)
And a snack.
(Pretend to eat)

I'll sit by the campfire
(warm hands over fire.)
Its glow so bright.
(Fan and wiggle fingers to resemble fire.)
Then snooze in my tent
(Pretend to snore.)
'Til the morning light!
(Open eyes wide, forming sun over head.)

By The Campfire added 7-9-02 Original Author Unknown

We sat around the campfire
On a chilly night (hug self)
Telling spooky stories
In the pale moonlight (look up to the sky)
Then we added some more logs,
To make the fire bright,
And sang some favorite camp songs
Together with all our might. (extend arms outward)
And when the fire flickered
and embers began to form.
We snuggled in our sleeping bags
all cozy, tired, and warm. (lie on ground, hug self)

Campfire Pokey added 6-17-03 Original Author Unknown

Sung to: "Hokey Pokey"

You put your marshmallow in, You take your marshmallow out, You put your marshmallow in and you shake it all about, You do the campfire pokey, and you turn yourself about, And that's what it's all about, hey!

Substitute "marshmallow" with hot dog, potato, apple, popcorn, and anything else that you can roast over the campfire.

At the end, use the phrase: You put your whole dinner in, You take your whole dinner out, You put your whole dinner in, and you shake it all about, You do the campfire pokey, and you turn yourself about, And that's what its all about, yum, yum!
