Science & Sensory: Colors > Orange

Make Orange added 10-15-00 Original Author Unknown

Have the students make orange by Squirting white shaving cream inside the ziplock bag, add a few drops of food coloring and close the bag, making sure that all the air is out. This gives your children the opportunity to explore mixing colors and there is no mess to clean up.

Orange Juice added 10-15-00 Original Author Unknown

Also you can draw or write with orange juice (real one, squeezed one) with Q-tip on a paper. Hold the paper about 2 inch above the stove (Adult Only! In fact holding it near a hot light bulb is safer.) and that will burn the juice.  You can let the children draw and show them when it dry as a spy's letter because you can not see anything.  And do the hot part of activity without kids. They will be surprised with the result. You can do it with milk or any food juice, even sugar water.

Carrot Plant added 10-15-00 Original Author Unknown

Cut off the tops of carrots and place it in a shallow dish of water. Over time the carrot will sprout at the top.
