Weigh A Watermelon

Take a watermelon and weigh it on a regular
bathroom scale and say something like "wow" or "oh,
my". I WOULD NOT share what the weight of it was. Then, I
would place the watermelon on the floor next to the scale and watch as
during free time, the children surround the scale to find out for
themselves how much the watermelon weighs. Later you can compare the
weight of the watermelon to the weights of the children.
Planting Watermelon

Let the children spoon potting soil into egg cartons. Have them
plant one or two watermelon seeds in each section. Then let them
water their seeds and check them daily. Soon the seeds will sprout
and grow into small watermelon plants.
