We plan our P.J. day to celebrate Dr. Seuss birthday Off hand I think it is on March2 but I'm not sure. The kids can bring favorite stuffed animals and books (have them put there names on them) they can bring sleeping bags and sleep in them at nap time, we make sure they bring picnic type lunches We clear away all the tables bring lots of bean bags, big pillows sleeping bags, we all borrow lots of stuffed animals from our kids we put out board games, floor puzzles , dress up dolls, dress up clothes , lots of cars, on a rug that has roads and stuff on it , puppets , flannel board stuff and
one year we taped a long piece of paper on the wall and let the kids draw on the (paper) wall, this was great the kids loved it. If you remind the kids this is a quiet day its the best, lots of cuddling up with the kids we had a parent helper come in so we could really enjoy the 1-1

Do mixed up animals. Have lots of animal "parts" for the children to choose from and construct many different kinds of silly animals. You could even give them a name!

Bartholomew & the OObleck added 1-24-00 Original Author Unknown

Make a batch of green Oobleck (water, cornstarch & green food coloring) to play with either to introduce the story or better yet as a follow up.

Film Canister Hats added 2-20-00 Original Author Unknown

Make hats out of film canisters, colored tape and felt circles.  Put the colored tape around the film canisters for the stripes.  You have to cut a hole in the center of the felt (to make a doughnut).  This is the brim ( it goes over the film canister).
