A Friend for Minerva Louise
By Janet Morgan Stoeke

Review by: Lori Plach

What can be more exciting than seeing a whole bunch of new things in a house. Minerva Louise is a loveable chicken who thinks she has it all figured out. There must be a new bunny in the family.
She mistakes the new baby carriage to be a new wheelbarrow. The new crib is a new rabbit hutch and the changing table is a gardening workbench according to Minerva. She thinks a diaper bag is a cozy little nest. She observes a comforter with brightly colored pictures of fish lying in a playpen and thinks its a fish pond. Minerva Louise gets very excited when she sees the farmers coming up the walk pushing the new wheelbarrow. She hopes they are bringing the new bunny for her to play with. When she peers into the baby carriage, she sees a purple stuffed bunny and some great new toys - one of them being a new baby.

Both children who have enjoyed the other Minerva Louise books and those that have never read any will love the colorful whimsical story of the changes that take place in a house when a new baby moves in.
