Red October, Big Max, Lumina, Baby Bear…these sound like movie
titles, don’t they?
But they are not!
Can you guess what they might be?
If you guessed pumpkins, you were right!
In “The Pumpkin Book” by Gail Gibbons, the author lists many
types of pumpkins and a ton of other information. She tells how to plant,
grow and harvest your crop in intricate detail.
She even describes everything you ever wanted to know about
pollination…but was afraid to ask!
The colorful and detailed artwork on each page tells the story in
picture for those not old enough to read the words.
She has even included a history lesson. She explains how pumpkins
were involved in the earliest traditions of Halloween and Thanksgiving.
I recommend this highly informative book for all ages.
Nonreaders can look at the pictures and the older crew can find how
to dry pumpkin seeds and other relatively unknown facts!
