Miss Mary Mack
Adapted by: Mary Ann Hoberman
Illustrated by: Nadine Bernard Westcott

Review by: Christa Koch of Preschool Education .Com

Did you ever wonder what happened after the elephant jumped over the fence? Did anyone get hurt? Did the elephant continue with his fence jumping career? Well now you can find out the answers by reading this catchy story.

This story is based on the childhood Hand-clapping chant Miss Mary Mack. It continues the story from your childhood. The repetition and rhyme is excellent for preschool age children. They are able to join in when you read them the story. The catchy rhyme will stick with you and your child for days.

The book has a page with the musical notes making it easy for instrument accompaniment. There is also directions and illustrations on how to do the hand clapping motions. The illustrations in the book are excellent. They are large and one illustration uses both halves of the book. This makes the book easy to see and great for group reading. I recommend this book for preschool children ages 3 – 6.
